The Sir John Guise Stadium is a multi-sport and athletics venue located in Port Moresby, completed in 1991. It is part of the larger Sir John Guise Sports Precinct which also includes an indoor arena, beach volleyball/hockey court, and aquatics centre. The stadium is named after Sir John Guise, GCMG, KBE (1914-91), the first Governor-General of Papua New Guinea and very much a man of the people. It was opened in 1991 to host the South Pacific Games that year. Its capacity can accommodate approximately 5,000 spectators. The stadium was redeveloped and renovated in time for the 2015 South Pacific Games and hosted all the matches for the 2016 OFC Nations Cup.
