The Old Wharf Steps, also known as the Portuguese Steps, lead up from Government Wharf. They were established in 1818. The resettles brought to Sierra Leone by the British would have climbed these steps. Although they may not appear impressive their history is. The ancestors of Krios would have climbed these steps with the thought of new beginnings and freedom.
