The Hutts Gate Store is believed to have originally been a military post. Later it was an Inn known as the Rose & Crown. In 1877 this was the only public house in Jamestown. It is not known when the building first became a store. However from the architecture it is understandable that this building existed during colonial times. An antique sign on the store’s facade is reminiscent of this past. In the 21st century the store was restored and now acts as a private house.
