In celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee His Worship Mayor Andy Foster and Deputy Mayor Sarah Free plan a tour of the Commonwealth Walkway in Wellington on 10th June 2022.
Starting at the National Library with a guided introduction to New Zealand’s founding document, Te Tiriti o Waitangi. The group will then walk to several of the significance sites including: Wai-Titi Landing, Wellington Cenotaph, Gandhi Statue, Katherine Mansfield Statue and Kumutoto Stream Soundscape. Following the short walking tour we will serve lite refreshments back in the Mayor’s Reception Room at Wellington City Council.
Celia Wade-Brown, former Mayor of Wellington, who launched The Wellington Commonwealth Walkway when in office, said “I am delighted Aotearoa New Zealand’s capital is using our Walkway to mark this historic moment”.
